Cate is an occupational therapist with 26 years of experience working with child and neurologically impaired adults. She has a B.S. from Dominican College in Orangeburg, N.Y. and a masters degree in Occupational Therapy from University of New Hampshire. She spent 5 years at Yale New Haven Hospital working on the acute neurological floor and was a member of their stroke team. She also worked with infants in the Neonatal Intensive Care Unit and with children on the acute pediatric units. She has been employed at Portsmouth Hospital for the past 20 years and is currently the outpatient Pediatric and Neuroscience program coordinator. She enjoys working with challenging patients and in order to address their needs more effectively completed biofeedback certification. She is pursuing neurofeedback certification and will complete Eye Movement Desensitization Reprogramming (EMDR) training this fall.  

Goals:

  1. Review of autonomic nervous system and stress response
  2. Review of latest research supporting the efficacy of self regulation and stress reduction techniques
  3. Understand the impact of chronic conditions such as ADHD, chronic pain, trauma, and anxiety
  4. Learn ways to incorporate proven strategies into OT treatment to enhance daily function
