Presenters: Ruth Ashley (COTA/L - A.A.S. Occupational Therapy) and Dianne Mros (B.S. Elementary Education, M.Ed. Reading and Writing, General Special Education and Specific Learning Disabilities certifications)

Presenter Bios: 

Ruth and Dianne have a combined 50 years of public education experience and over 10 years of integrative health and wellness practice. They are Reiki Master Teachers and Tai Chi for Health Instructors. They have presented many classes and workshops on a variety of prevalent wellness topics including mindfulness, meditation, Tai Chi, Reiki, Qi Gong, and other mind-body modalities. Their audiences have included educators, therapists, medical staff, Sports and Athletic professionals, parents and children.

They both currently work within the Special Education realm of public schools and bring a unique and insightful mindset to working with students of all abilities. Ruth has 24 years of experience as an Occupational Therapy Assistant. Dianne has 10 years’ experience as an Elementary classroom teacher and 20 plus years as a Specialist. Goals/objectives:

1. Participants will be able to define the origin, purpose and benefits of Tai Chi and mindfulness.

2. Participants will learn and practice grounding, affirmation, and visualization techniques.

3. Participants will learn and practice breath work, postures and basic Tai Chi movements.

4. Participants will gain an understanding of stress reduction skills through Tai Chi and mind-body principles for improved wellness and self-care.
