Presenters: Denise Finch, OTD, OTR/L, CHT and Angela Butler, MS, OTR/L

Presenter Bios: 

Angela Butler and Denise Finch are instructors at MCPHS University in the MSOT program. Angela's area of clinical expertise is adult rehabilitation with special interest in neurological disorders and vision. Denise has extensive background in work rehabilitation and ergonomics. Angela and Denise teach a number of courses that include content related to clinical reasoning, environment and technology, mental health, assessments, adult rehabilitation, and cognition and vision. As instructors, they are committed to promoting OT as experts in analyzing activities and mismatches between a person’s physical and mental capacities, the task demands and the environment. Utilizing the OTPF and related performance language, as well as the occupational profile provides an opportunity to promote the distinct value of OT.

Goals/objectives:

1. Attendees will be able to complete an occupational profile using the AOTA format.

2. Attendees will be able to identify and discuss the OTPF and its value in promoting the distinct value of OT in mental health practice.

3. Attendees will be able to identify and discuss opportunities to use the OTPF's occupational performance language in mental health practice.

4. Clinicians and instructors will identify areas of common interest relative to student learning in the area of mental health.
