Presenters: Karen T. Baxter, MS, OTR

Presenter Bio: 

Karen has been practicing OT for the past 35 years and has been working in the Concord School District for 27 years. She has extensive experience in educating students with a variety of disabilities in the public school system. She works with student ages 5-21 promoting independence and positive mental health. She works as part of a multi disciplinary team to help students transition to life after high school. In 2016-2017, Karen and her colleagues participated in a year long Every Moment Counts initiative with Susan Bazyk, a professor at Cleveland State University.

Goals/objectives:

1. Participants will be able to identify the difference between mental health and mental illness.

2. Participants will be able to identify strategies to promote positive mental health.

3. Participants will increase their understanding of the importance of self regulation in promoting positive mental health.
