Pull Out of vs. Push into Classrooms
Discussion facilitated by Tere Bowen-Irish
and Ginny Litalien

A discussion about delivery of services in schools is long overdue. There has been a push
nationally and in recent literature about it being more effective if we see kids in the classroom as
opposed to taking then to the OT room for 'magic' that then does not seem to transfer into academic
performance. I think some of us have tried in different ways to do this, but Tere has brought it to a
higher level in her practice with good results, starting in the Stratham School district 12 yrs. ago.
Those of you who came to our Sept. meeting on Yoga and movement in the classroom with Tere
know how inspirational she is - and encouraging, real and human about admitting her struggles!
She was the OT Practitioner of the Year as announced at the NHOTA Annual conference in Oct.
She will bring some products to purchase that she has created in case anyone may find them
helpful.
