    Topic: The Field of Visual Rehabilitation: Do’s and Don’ts of Occupational Therapy Clinical Practice

    Presenters: Angela Butler, MS, OTR/L & Andy Eagan M. Ed, OTR/L, COMS

    This 2-part presentation will include an introduction to the visual rehabilitation field covering both Adult and Children services from evaluation to intervention. Discussion will include areas of focus for OT as well as limitations to practice. Review of the primary providers of visual services including: Teachers of Visually impaired; Low Vision Therapist; Orientation and Mobility Specialist; Vision Rehabilitation Therapist; and Certified Assistive Technology Instructional Specialist. Time will be provided to review and explore tools and strategies for maximizing function and independence for persons with visual impairment and blindness.
    1.Participants will list 3 standardized tools that occupational therapists can use to screen for adults/children with visual dysfunction.
    2. Participants will list at least 3 intervention strategies that can be used in occupational therapy treatment for adults/children with visual dysfunction.
    3. Participants will be able to identify at least 3 professions and the areas addressed specific to vision loss.
