Waiting weeks for a prior authorization decision. A claim denied for a requirement no one told you about. Hours on the phone just to learn the real reason a claim was denied. If you practice pediatric OT in New Hampshire, you likely know these stories well.
NHOTA is working this session to push legislation that reduces administrative burden for pediatric practices, and we need your experience to decide where to focus. Our survey lays out twelve concrete legislative concepts, all drawn from challenges NH practices have reported firsthand. They include a standardized documentation form, honoring approved plans of care, and prompt payment and credentialing timelines. You will choose the three that would make the biggest difference in your day-to-day practice and tell us which one to pursue first.

It takes about 8 to 10 minutes and is anonymous unless you choose to share your contact information at the end. Please complete it by September 30th.
If you have a specific example from the past 12 months, please share it in the optional story question. A brief, concrete account of what happened, how much staff time it cost, and what it meant for a family is often the most persuasive thing we can bring to a legislator. If you would be willing to share your story with a legislator, testify, or join a legislative planning call, you can leave your contact information separately, and it will not be linked to your responses.
We especially want to hear from OTs in pediatric private practice, and practice owners and managers see these burdens up close. Other pediatric and outpatient OTs who recognize these challenges are welcome to respond too. Please forward this to colleagues who may not be on our list.
Thank you for your time and for everything you do for New Hampshire's children and families.
With gratitude,
Heather Gilbert, OTD, OTR/L
